Who people in the UAE trust
Edelman's 2026 Trust Barometer gives the UAE a Trust Index of 80, joint highest of the 28 markets it surveys. Its 2025 UAE brand trust report found that 87% of people trust the brands they use, more than they trust business in general (82%) or the media (72%).
The same report asked who people trust to give accurate information about a brand. Customers and a company's own people come out close to or above journalists:
87%
trust customers like themselves to give accurate information about a brand.
78%
trust a brand's employees to do the same.
74%
trust the brand's CEO.
73%
trust journalists.
What this means for your brand
- Your customers are online. With internet use at 99%, the real question is where they spend their attention and whether they see you there.
- LinkedIn is a mass channel in the UAE. Ten million members make it a serious place for founders and B2B companies to be seen, well beyond recruitment.
- Treat platform audiences as reach. TikTok and Instagram advertising figures are useful for comparing platforms, and your plan should follow where your own customers are.
- Trust travels through people. Customer stories and a visible founder carry real weight in a market that trusts customers and company people as sources.
How to read these numbers
DataReportal's social media figures count user identities, so one person with two accounts counts twice. Advertising audiences can also exceed the population because of visitors and duplicate accounts. Use these numbers to compare platforms and to track direction over time. For planning a brand's media, the more useful question is which of these audiences your customers belong to.
